Websites – Came A Long Way

I remember when I first started my sites I used a program called Trellix which then changed to something else but Trellix was on the Windows ME computer that came into the house, actually my Father bought it for my Mom for Christmas… Anyway that changed to Frontpage 98 which then changed to Frontpage 2003 which then changed to Expressions Web 3 and now Expressions Web 4… But up until about two years ago I honestly didn’t care about the code or anything, but I got kind of passionate about the code and was always viewing other source codes on websites to see what makes them tick and what runs them.

So that made me to fix up my code to be HTML5 and keeping it that way, it also allows me to play around with some nifty features… for example:
Yes, it’s a one page website but I got a video background on it… I think it’s kinda cool and it suits the site, I know the site will expand in the future but right now my friend who I did the site for has many things on her plate.

Recently I got playing around with some CSS and I did up a top banner navigational system for a site:

That’s also a very basic site, I plan on looking into cleaning up that navigation and turning it into a drop down menu, however I have been told that drop down menu’s aren’t a good option because of mobile browsing… But yet so many site use them… Anyways maybe I won’t do that and maybe I’ll just leave things the way they are.

I’ve also came a long way because when my sites would go down I would just shuffle off to another host since I have always used free hosting and nothing really would come of my sites, well I’ve been with the same host right now (ByetHost) for about a year if not longer and the guys behind it have been nothing but friendly. Speaking of which I had myself quite the scare the other day, on the sports site (listed above) I uploaded an almanac that was generated by the baseball game I use which is Out Of The Park Baseball, well I decided to try something new this year and do a world baseball league so I have teams from all across the world, I think it’s a cool concept. Anyways so I was uploading the almanac when all of a sudden POOF my site vanished, I sat there and scratched my head and I wrote the guys about it and they told me there site crawlers shut me down because I had jihad content on it… I was like WTF ?, alright what’s going on with this… Well it turns out that name is a popular last and middle name in Europe and a few players that were computer generated by the game had that name. Needless to say it kinda freaked me out a bit and it made me change up my site to be even smaller, it’s now a simple one page site and you can download almanacs… In fact that name (that I refuse to post more than once) is the equivalent to the name John for us, that’s how common that is for a few countries in Europe… I could continue to post about this and argue stuff but quite honestly, I’m not going to… It’s a learning experience folks that’s all and I wanted to get to the bottom of things so I did my own searches.

I can see that I continue to grow in many ways in my life, I’ve so far enjoyed learning all that I have learned.
